Children and Youth Resources

Inclusive Golf Program

The number of youths reporting poor mental health is increasing. This can have a serious impact on their life—affecting their schooling, grades, decision-making, and overall health. Mental health problems often coincide with other health or behavioral risks, including substance use—which can lead to a substance use disorder.

This is why early intervention is important. It’s important to have the tools and resources to know about child development to ensure you understand the milestones your child should be reaching—and what to do if you ever become concerned. Acting early on any concerns ensures that your child will receive the necessary resources to have a wonderful life—in the event they have a developmental or intellectual disability, for example. Mental illness also affects our youth now more than ever. Recognizing those signs and intervening before adulthood better prepares them to deal with the typical challenges experienced in adulthood.

It is important for healthy behaviors, habits, and resources to be established and utilized in adolescence so that these behaviors and habits carry over into adulthood. It is important for youth to develop good mental health and have access to resources and services that can have a positive impact on their future.
