The recent events surrounding COVID-19 have created questions about the 2020 Mental Health Champions’ Banquet, currently scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, 2020. At this time a decision has not been made regarding the postponement or cancellation of this event. We anticipate a decision will be made by late April – first week in May. An announcement will be circulated. Of course, our hope is that if we need to postpone this event, we will be able to reschedule for a later date. Stay tuned for updates and please stay healthy and well.
The Mental Health Champions’ Banquet is currently scheduled for Tuesday evening, June 23, 2020. The event will be held at the Capitol Plaza Hotel, 415 W. McCarty Street, Jefferson City, MO. The banquet is an opportunity to come together to recognize and celebrate the many achievements of individuals living with mental illness, developmental disabilities and substance use disorders. It is also an opportunity to share a common goal — a goal to continue the journey of raising awareness and public understanding of issues impacting individuals and families living with mental illness, developmental disabilities and substance use disorders.
The Mental Health Champions’ Award is presented to three individuals annually – an individual living with mental illness, an individual living with developmental disabilities and an individual in recovery for substance use disorders. The award recipients make positive contributions to their community, exemplify commitment and vision, and their actions have increased the potential for independence in others with similar mental health conditions.
